Cacao
Cocoa powder is made from the 15-20 cm large berries of the cocoa tree. For this, the hard skin of the berries is crushed to get to the seeds, the so-called cocoa beans. These seeds are roasted and then ground. The beans in their raw state have a very bitter taste, which becomes much milder after processing. Cocoa cultivation requires a lot of heat and moisture and therefore mainly takes place in a few countries in Africa, South America and Asia.
Cocoa powder is a true all-rounder in the kitchen: it can be used excellently for baking, desserts or other sweet dishes and not only children love cocoa as drinking chocolate.
