Nutmeg
Nutmegs are the seed of the nutmeg tree (Myristica fragrans). Originally, the nutmeg comes from parts of Indonesia. Today, however, it is native to Africa, South America and tropical parts of Asia. With its spicy and warming aroma, nutmeg is an essential ingredient in winter dishes and oven-fresh gingerbread. A pinch of nutmeg adds a popular flavour to mashed potatoes and cauliflower. To enjoy the full aroma, grate the whole nut just before use. The essential oils remain in the whole nut. In addition to the lively flavour, the nut also contains valuable vital substances.
