Polyporus
Polyporus is a species of edible mushroom from the family of stem porling relatives, also known as oak hare. Polyporus usually grows in dense clumps and on tree trunks. The mushroom grows in beech and oak forests, mainly in North America and Asia, especially in the Caucasus region and Siberia. It is rarely found in Europe. In TCM, the vital mushroom plays an important role. The mushroom smells slightly mealy and the taste is nutty and bitter.
