Red clover (Trifolium pratense) is also known as meadow clover because this plant is often found in meadows and grasses. Red clover belongs to the legume family and grows in Asia, Europe and parts of North Africa. The clover traditionally stands for good luck, especially the four-leaf clover. The flowers of red clover are also particularly popular with bees, butterflies and bumblebees. The young leaves and flowers of the clover can be used to flavour and decorate dishes, and when dried the flowers make a delicious tea. The taste of the leaves is reminiscent of peas and lamb's lettuce.
