Cardamom Powder in a glass spreader Organic 40g
The green cardamom (Elettaria cardamomum) or also called cardamum, belongs to the ginger family (Zingiberaceae). The herbaceous plant can grow up to 5 metres high and has yellow-bluish flowers. The seeds of the flowers are processed into the aromatic spice cardamom. The word cardamom is derived from the ancient Indian word "kárdama[c]h", which means dirt. The plant originally comes from southern India, Sri Lanka and Iraq. Nowadays, the plant is mainly cultivated in Guatemala, as well as Tanzania, Papua New Guinea and Vietnam. The spice cardamom can be used in many ways; the Swedes use it to refine their baked goods, in India cardamom is used for curries and rice dishes and Arabs enjoy their hot drinks with cardamom.
